Battlefield: Bad Company is the latest FPS to come out from EA (though still in beta testing stages). You may remember me talking about it’s destructible environments and how they tried to con it off as the only game doing so, what I didn’t get a chance to talk about was that EA are offering purchasable weapons on the Xbox 360 Marketplace and in the limited edition copy. This offer seems pretty sweet to some people, but to others, they are worried that they are going to be severely handicapped if they stick to free stuff. Thankfully, the good people over at Xbox 360 Fanboy have put in the time to compare all the weapons for us in the beta test for Battlefield: Bad Company. You may be surprised at just how un-awesome the purchasable weapons are. Check out the video.
Penny Arcade has already had some fun ripping away at Army of Two, now it’s Yahtzee’s turn.

A short teaser for the new Call of Duty 4 map pack which is set to be released later this month. Man, I can’t wait!

The last thing we saw from Alone In The Dark was this mediocre trailer that didn’t really give us too great an idea of how the game was going to be played – it showed us some cool ideas, but not enough to pique our interest. So, to fix that, is the Tech Demo. It goes into much more detail in explaining how the inventory system will work, while that may sound boring, trust me, it’s awesome the way you can mix items. Eg, take lighter fluid, wrap sticky tape around it (turning it into a rather sticky bomb), puncture it with a knife, throw it at an enemy (leaving a trail of lighter fluid) then set the fluid trail on fire, blowing the enemy and anything around him to tiny little pieces.

We have finally been given some Rainbow Six Vegas 2 footage – actually, we’ve been given quite a lot of footage. Five decently sized video’s worth of it. The video above is all about multiplayer. It would seem they are going to be using an XP system similar to CoD4.
The other 4 video’s can be viewed after the jump.

Yahtzee hates taking requests (as you’ll hear from watching this review), but it would seem that he can be swayed into doing something when thousand of people continue to pester him about it. And so, Here it is, the much requested review of Call of Duty 4.

As far as I’m concerned this is the biggest news of the year. Red Faction (one) was the first game I ever played from start till finish without stopping for a break – Man I love that game.
For those who never played it, Red Faction was the first game to do (almost) fully destructible environments. It should have started a revolution, but for some reason development companies didn’t pick up on how awesome it was until Battlefield: Bad Company. Well.. Daddy is back, and he’s here to show those Battlefield noobs how destructible environments are done!
THQ CEO Brian Farrell announced that Red Faction 3 will be developed by Volition and is currently set to be released between April 2008 and March 2009.

Your first reaction might be simply to sigh, and fair enough. I also think that the Halo merchandise has gotten a little out of hand. But these things are actually kind of cool, and if I was still 12 I’d want one!
I’ve seen these for sale at Amazon. Also available is a not-so-cool Plasma Pistol.

Variety reports that last spring a Grand Theft Auto movie was almost ready to roll into full production. The story goes that after years of trying, some studio actually navigated the bureaucracy of Take-Two/Rockstar and was ready to start production — “quite possibly” with Eminem as the star. The reason this even came to be after so many years of stonewalling by GTA’s rights holders is that current Take-Two chair, Strauss Zelnick, comes from traditional media at BMG music and 20th Century Fox.
Variety goes on to say that the movie was so close to being finalized that its own reporters were prepping stories, with sources at Take-Two saying it was a done deal. At the last moment though, the whole thing fell allegedly apart after the publisher couldn’t finalize terms with the studio. Whether it was an issue about money or giving away the movie rights (Rockstar is very protective of its brand) is still an unanswered question.
All I can say is: Thank you God!
Can you imagine a how badly a GTA movie would suck? And with Eminem as the lead?!
