I first took an interest in Website Development at the early age of 13. At the time there was nobody I could learn from, so I taught myself. I scoured the internet for any and all tutorials on HTML, Flash, and Photoshop. I spent most of my free time during High School designing mock templates for websites, and each time I got a better understanding for the theory of design and the structure and beauty of code.
I then graduated from the National College of Design and Technology (aka Natcoll), where I completed a Diploma in Website Development and a second Diploma in Multimedia.
Since then I’ve spent a couple of years in the Web industry creating PHP driven websites for a wide variety of clients. I’ve also spent 8 months in the Multi-Media industry, where I worked on a wide range of projects: from Video Jockeying for a Modern Dance Production, to Video Post Production for the Labour Party NZ.
I now find myself back at Natcoll, not as a student, but as a teacher. I’m putting my knowledge to the test as I educate the young and old(er) in XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, MySQL, jQuery, Joomla and Flash.
I’m not sure what the future has in store for me. Right now, I’m just enjoying the journey and happy for every moment that I get to spend doing what I love - Website Development.
